Earlier this year we were awarded GOLD at the Clean City Awards, a recognition of our market leading practises in the environmental field, see HERE.  At Cavendish Conference Venues we initiated our quest to be the most sustainable conference venue in London over 20 years ago. A major stand was our decision two years ago to directly offsetting our carbon footprint via mass tree planting ourselves ie rather then paying others to offset, see our sustainability initiative here.  As we did last year now is the time to report on how our existing trees are doing and what our future plans are.

By May 2021 we had planted over 600 trees of which 540 had survived repeated winter storms etc. As we do every year, we have now conducted a thorough audit of how they are doing. We are massively heartened to report that a fantastic 530 are alive and thriving. So far this year the growing conditions have been fantastic, a combination of lots of rain, lots of sun and not too many bad storms. Average growth has been as follows.

Why plant Trees:

Quite simply trees are the best way of tackle the climate crisis. They are the best way of ensuring that cavendish conference venues and all the conference rooms and meeting rooms we have in London are indeed the most sustainable conference venues in Central London. Purchasing policy explicitly favours local producers so, for example, all the wine we now purchase is UK produced.
