Workshop Rooms With Breakouts Next Door

A workshop needs a main room of the right size and breakout space close enough that sending groups off does not cost fifteen minutes. Across Hallam Conference Centre in Fitzrovia, Cavendish Conference Centre in Marylebone, Basinghall in the Square Mile, America Square near Tower Hill and the Minster Building in the City we pair a main workshop room with syndicate rooms on the same floor wherever the building allows.

Layouts That Suit Facilitated Sessions

Rooms set cabaret, U-shape, boardroom, classroom and theatre, and can be reset between sessions. Cabaret rounds and U-shapes are the most requested for facilitated work, because both let a facilitator see every face and let delegates talk to each other rather than to the back of a head.

AV and Hybrid Workshops

Every room has in-house AV support and hybrid-ready video conferencing, with technicians on site during the booking, so remote participants can take part properly instead of watching a laptop propped at the end of a table.

Food That Suits a Working Day

Catering is by our group catering partner Mayfair Catering. Workshop menus are planned around the rhythm of the day – a mid-morning break that is not just biscuits, and a lunch that does not flatten the afternoon session. Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, halal and kosher options are all available.

What is a good size room for a facilitated workshop in London?

For a facilitated workshop we typically recommend a room that seats 12 to 40 in the main configuration, with two to four adjacent breakout rooms within 20 seconds’ walk. That combination lets a facilitator send groups off, call them back and not lose 15 minutes of the session doing it. All five Cavendish venues can put together this shape.

Can you set up cabaret-style seating for a workshop?

Yes. Cabaret rounds of six to eight are one of our most-requested workshop layouts, particularly for design sprints, problem-solving sessions and strategy off-sites. We can also set up U-shape, hollow-square, cluster tables, fishbowl format and standing-only breakouts. Layouts are confirmed in the booking pack and set the night before your event.

Do workshop rooms come with whiteboards and flip charts?

Yes. Every workshop room has whiteboards on wheels, flip-chart easels with paper and pens, pin-boards, wall panels that take Blu Tack or post-its, and screens for a facilitator’s slides. Wireless microphones are available for rooms over 30 people. Fast Wi-Fi copes with 40 devices simultaneously.

What food works best for a full-day workshop?

Workshop delegates need light, energy-sustaining food — not a heavy three-course lunch that puts everyone to sleep at 2pm. Our workshop menus lean on salads, grain bowls, sharing platters and hot dishes with vegetable weight, prepared in-house. Halal, kosher, vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and allergen protocols are included as standard.

Can you run parallel workshops in multiple rooms?

Yes. Where a programme has multiple parallel tracks, we can allocate identical rooms across the same floor or the same building so each track has the same layout, kit and refreshment set-up. This is a regular pattern for graduate assessment centres, multi-track sales training and multi-cohort development programmes.
