Lecture Spaces Across Five Central London Venues
From an evening talk for thirty to a lecture for several hundred, our five venues – Hallam Conference Centre in Fitzrovia, Cavendish Conference Centre in Marylebone, Basinghall in the Square Mile, America Square near Tower Hill and the Minster Building in the City – cover the range, in styles from Grade II listed and panelled to purpose-built and contemporary. Capacities across the group run from 2 to 450.
AV, Streaming and Recording
Lecture spaces have in-house AV support as standard: screens and projection, microphones, and hybrid-ready video conferencing so a remote audience can join. Sessions can be recorded for on-demand viewing afterwards, which for a lecture programme is usually worth more than the room itself. AV technicians are on site throughout.
Easy for an Audience to Reach
Every venue is within a five-minute walk of a mainline Tube or rail station – Oxford Circus, Great Portland Street and Bond Street in the West End; Bank, Moorgate, St Paul’s, Tower Hill and Fenchurch Street in the City. For an evening talk, that difference shows in the attendance.
Catering Around a Talk
Arrival refreshments, interval service and post-lecture drinks and canapés are all provided in-house by our group catering partner Mayfair Catering, with vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free, halal and kosher options available.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the biggest lecture room you have in London?
Our largest lecture space is the main conference hall at 1 America Square, which seats up to 200 delegates theatre-style with tiered seating, a proper stage and full audio treatment. For audiences beyond that we can split delegates across adjacent rooms with a live video link.
Do you have theatre-style seating for talks and keynotes?
Yes. Every Cavendish venue has at least one room built for theatre-style delivery, with sight-lines to the stage from every seat, acoustic treatment on the walls and either raked seating (the larger rooms) or riser staging (the flat-floor rooms). Standard capacities range from 30 up to 200.
Can you stream a lecture live to a remote audience?
Yes. Every lecture space is set up for hybrid delivery as standard. That includes a broadcast-quality camera, direct feed to Zoom, Teams, Webex or a bespoke streaming platform, confidence monitor for the speaker, wireless microphones and full MP4 recording with slides cut in. A technician is in the room from the first slide to the last.
What kind of AV kit is included with a lecture booking?
Included as standard: main-screen projection or LED display; speaker confidence monitor; lapel and handheld wireless microphones with backups; laptop input via HDMI or wireless share; direct video conferencing feed to your platform of choice; and a technician in the room for the duration. Bespoke kit — LED walls, IMAG cameras, translation booths — can be added on request.
Do you provide catering for a lecture or all-day conference?
Yes. Arrival tea and coffee with pastries or breakfast rolls; refreshment breaks; hot or cold buffet lunch; canapes and drinks for post-lecture receptions; and full three-course dining if a post-event dinner is part of the programme. Everything is prepared in-house by our MCAT team. Halal, kosher, vegetarian, vegan and full allergen protocols are covered as standard.
A lecture needs sightlines and sound before anything else. The auditorium at 1 Basinghall Avenue seats 450 and the Minster Forum 350 — both among our conference venues in the City of London. See also all our London conference venues.
