If your delegates are arriving at St Paul's, our nearest dedicated conference venue is 1 Basinghall Avenue, eight minutes' walk north-east through the Square Mile. It has an auditorium for up to 450 people, three further conference rooms, space for 30 exhibition stands and a roof terrace looking back across the City to St Paul's Cathedral itself. It is the largest of our three conference venues in the City of London, and the one built for the big day: AGMs, results presentations, association conferences and hybrid broadcasts. For delegates arriving from further east, The Minster Building is a twelve-minute walk in the other direction.
St Paul's is a Central line station, which makes it one of the fastest ways to reach a City conference venue from the West End: Tottenham Court Road is four stops away, Bond Street six. It is also five minutes from the Elizabeth line at Farringdon and one stop from Bank on the Central line, so delegates arriving from Heathrow, Paddington, Canary Wharf and Stratford have a short connection rather than a long walk.
From the station it is an eight-minute walk to 1 Basinghall Avenue: leave onto Cheapside, head east past One New Change and the north side of the Cathedral, take King Street to Gresham Street, then Basinghall Street to Basinghall Avenue. No. 1 is the building with the revolving door and the timber-clad reception behind it.
Bank is five minutes from the same station on foot for the Waterloo & City, Northern and DLR lines; Mansion House and Cannon Street are five minutes for the District and Circle lines; Moorgate and Barbican are within ten. Most delegates come by train, which is as well: the venue sits inside the Congestion Charge and ULEZ zones.
The three Forums open into a single auditorium for a plenary of up to 450 theatre-style, then divide into three rooms for breakouts, so a conference can move from keynote to workshops without anyone leaving the floor. The exhibition space takes 30 stands, the reception area handles registration for the full house, and the roof terrace is the lunch and drinks space when the weather allows — with a direct view back to St Paul's Cathedral your delegates have just walked past.

AV is built in and run by our own technical team — stage, lectern, screens, radio microphones, and the cameras and encoding for a hybrid conference or a webcast to the people who could not get to St Paul's. Floorplans and the full room list are on the 1 Basinghall Avenue venue page.
The area around St Paul's is professional-services country: the accountancy firms around One New Change and Paternoster Square, the law firms along Cheapside, the banks and insurers running north into Basinghall and the Guildhall. The organisations here are the ones that need a conference venue with a proper stage and a room that holds everyone: professional bodies and membership associations running their annual conferences; listed companies holding AGMs and results presentations; firms running graduate intakes and training programmes; awarding bodies sitting exams — AQA and Pearson Edexcel have each run sittings with us; and companies launching a product to a room of clients and press. Academic and charity conferences are offered a discounted rate — ask for it when you enquire.
Catering is in-house, by Mayfair Catering, from arrival coffee to a seated dinner for 200 in the combined Forum, with canapés for drinks receptions from our sister company City Canapé Company, made fresh each day in its EC1 kitchen and delivered across the City by cargo bike. In our post-event survey 97% of clients rated their overall event 8 or more out of 10, and 96% said they would book again.
Cavendish Venues is a Certified B Corporation, and took Gold for Best Venue Customer Service and Silver in the Sustainability Award for Venues at the Conference Awards 2026. Our sustainability page sets out what that means in practice, from waste and energy to the 2,500 trees planted so far.
Delegates staying overnight have a good choice of hotels within a ten-minute walk of the venue, from the modern hotels around One New Change and Paternoster Square through to the properties north of London Wall closer to the door. Our HotelMap page shows live rates around the building. For a working lunch, a team dinner after the conference or a drink before the train, the restaurants on Cheapside, the bars around Bow Lane and the pubs of the old City lanes put a good choice within five minutes in every direction. Ask the venue team on the day — they know which is quiet at 6pm and which takes a table of twenty.
If St Paul's is not the right side of the City for your delegates, we have two more conference venues in the Square Mile: The Minster Building at 21 Mincing Lane, EC3, with a 350-seat Forum a few minutes from Bank, Monument, Tower Hill and Fenchurch Street; and 1 America Square, with a 270-seat suite and eight rooms three minutes from Tower Hill. We have set the City's main conference venues out side by side, and our London conference venues page covers the West End as well.
Tell us the date, the numbers and the shape of the day and we will come back with a proposal the same working day. Call 020 7706 7700 or use the enquiry form. If you are shortlisting, ask for a site visit — all three of our conference venues in the City of London can be seen in one morning.
Eight minutes on foot. Leave the station onto Cheapside, head east past One New Change and Cheapside itself, take King Street to Gresham Street, then Basinghall Street to Basinghall Avenue.
The Central line only — but that is a fast line from the West End (Tottenham Court Road, Bond Street) and into East London (Stratford). Bank is one stop east for the Waterloo & City, Northern and DLR lines, and Farringdon on the Elizabeth line is five minutes on foot for delegates from Heathrow, Paddington, Canary Wharf and Stratford.
Up to 450 theatre-style in the combined Forum, 250 cabaret, or 204 for a seated dinner, with 30 exhibition stands in the adjoining space.
Yes. The Forum divides into three rooms of 140, 170 and 140 theatre-style, so a plenary can break into three streams on the same floor.
Yes. Our in-house technical team runs the cameras, encoding and streaming for hybrid and virtual events, so remote delegates see and hear the same conference as the room.
Our day delegate rate includes catering by Mayfair Catering, our in-house team, and canapés for a drinks reception can come from our sister company City Canapé Company. Ask for the DDR when you enquire, and for the charity or academic rate if it applies.
Almost everyone arrives by train: the venue is inside the Congestion Charge and ULEZ zones and St Paul's is eight minutes away. If you need to bring equipment or exhibition stands by van, tell us when you book and we will arrange access.
Our accessibility page describes access to each venue; tell us what your delegates need and we will confirm before you book.
Of course — and if you are also considering the east side of the City, you can see all three of our City conference venues in one morning. Call 020 7706 7700 to arrange it.
