Cavendish Venues Achieves B Corp Certification — A First for Specialist Conference Venues in London
As of March 26, Cavendish Venues has officially earned B Corp Certification and we couldn’t be prouder.
For those unfamiliar with the movement, B Corp is widely regarded as the world’s most rigorous environmental and social accreditation. It’s awarded only to organisations that meet the highest verified standards of performance, transparency, and accountability. By achieving certification with an overall score of 86.7 comfortably above the80-point pass mark we join a global community of purpose-driven businesses that includes Patagonia, Innocent Drinks, and The Body Shop.
To our knowledge, we are the only specialist conference and meeting venue operator in London to hold B Corp certification making this a genuine first for the dedicated events sector in the capital.
What B Corp Certification Means for Sustainable Events in London
In an era where “green washing” is common, B Corp status gives our clients something most venue marketing can’t: independent, third-party verification. When you book a sustainable conference venue in London, you shouldn’t have to take your venue’s word for it. B Corp means an external body has scrutinised how we treat our people, manage our environmental impact, engage with our community, and govern our business and confirmed we meet the standard.
Internally, “That’s not very B Corp” has become our litmus test for every decision. It shapes how we treat our staff, how we choose suppliers, and how we look after your delegates. We’re not just a venue with a sustainability page on our website we’re a verified partner in your own sustainability journey.
Thirty Years of Groundwork
Becoming a B Corp wasn’t a sudden pivot. It was the natural next step for a business that has spent three decades trying to lighten its footprint. Over the years we’ve built a carbon reduction plan to monitor and minimise emissions across all our sites, implemented zero-waste-to-landfill recycling programmes, overhauled our energy infrastructure with sensor-driven LED lighting and high-efficiency systems, and prioritised local, seasonal produce to cut food miles and support UK suppliers.
Those weren’t initiatives we launched to tick a box. They were already in place long before we started the certification process which made B Corp feel less like a stretch and more like getting the recognition for work we’d already done.
What the B Corp Assessment Actually Involves
We won’t pretend it was easy. The certification process took our leadership team the best part of two years, running alongside the daily demands of operating busy venues across London.
The B Impact Assessment is exhaustive. It examines five areas governance, workers, community, environment, and customers and demands evidence for everything. Not mission statements or marketing copy, but written policies, training records, board minutes, supplier agreements, and photographic documentation of facilities.Every claim has to be backed up.
At times the process was gruelling. But it was also genuinely transformative. Building that evidence trail forced us to formalise practices that had been informal, close gaps we hadn’t noticed, and sharpen processes across the business. We came out of it not just certified, but measurably better run. Our score of 86.7 reflects that rigour and gives us a clear benchmark to improve against in future assessments.
Why This Matters When You’re Choosing a Venue
Corporate event planners are under growing pressure to demonstrate that sustainability commitments extend beyond their own offices and into their supply chain. Your choice of venue is part of that picture.
Partnering with a B Corp certified venue means you can report with confidence that your event was hosted by an independently verified sustainable business. It’s a line item in your CSR reporting that actually stands up to scrutiny not a logo on a webpage with nothing behind it.
And because we’re a dedicated conference and meeting venue rather than a hotel or restaurant with event space bolted on, sustainability is woven into the specific way we operate: how we setup rooms, how we cater, how we manage delegate flow, and how we handle waste from events specifically.
What Comes Next
Certification isn’t the finish line it’s the starting point. B Corp requires recertification, and our aim is to raise our score each time. We’re already looking at where we can improve across all five impact areas, and we’ll be transparent about that progress.
We’re more determined than ever to keep pushing for our team, for our clients, and for the industry.
