Cavendish Venues takes part in London City Selection’s Big City Site Visit 2018!
London City Selection (LCS), the City of London’s venue consortium, had its annual corporate familiarisation day on Thursday 5th July 2018: the Big City Site Visit, to showcase the diverse venues to event professionals.
The City tour organised by Events Chair Oliver Hargreaves at the Barbican invited corporate event bookers to visit 8 of the collection’s 30 venues in the same day, offering them the chance to sample the best in hospitality at some of the City’s modern, heritage and unique venues within the collection.
Cavendish Venues Director of Sales Paul Martins joined Milou Jannink from Qbic Hotel to guide guests around the venues with the assistance of the wonderfully well-informed Peter Twist as City Guide.
The first visit came with a warm welcome thanks to the lovely Paulina Sowa at Farmers & Fletchers Hall:
From here, established City of London Guide Peter Twist then led the group on an intriguing journey through the city streets that he used to protect as Chief Superintendent of the Metropolitan Police Service. As an Accredited Guide for London Central Markets, Peter showed the group locations for films, the oldest house in London, gave the reasons behind sayings such as “one for the road” and also told of why we cut the rope for new openings..and if you want to find out, you best book a guided tour with him at petertwis@gmail.com , or follow @petetheaudience .
The second visit was to the beacon of a venue overlooking the Tower of London with thanks to the deeply knowledgeable and charming Edgar King at Trinity House:
Next is was off though Leadenhall Market where the group learned about Old Tom’s Bar and the turkey that made it so called.
The fascinating stories continued through grasshoppers at the Royal Exchange and onto St Paul’s Cathedral, another iconic LCS member venue:
The third stop of the day was at the Honourable Artillery Company at The HAC, thanks to the ever-hospitable duo of Marilyn Allen and Claire Kirikal:
Then, a jump on a bus led the group to Furniture Makers Hall with a cordial reception thanks to Melissa Marinic:
After a lunch break to recharge batteries, the group were then assisted thanks to Paulina Sowa from Farmers & Fletchers and Susan Innes from Crowne Plaza Kings Cross with Peter Twist continuing the tales on tour.
The event bookers went on in the afternoon to visit CCT Venues Barbican (thanks to Alfie Hanoun), enjoyed a thrilling Mail Rail ride at The Postal Museum (thanks to Claire Bastin), had a viewing of the Dorsett City Hotel (thanks to Ahti Nigol) and came together at the Qbic Hotel for a well-deserved drinks reception (thanks to Giovanna Colucci and Milou Jannink).
The London City Selection offers venue members increased channels to market properties through the website, representation at quality exhibitions, through the annual agents Fam Trip and also through this the Big City Site Visit.
