5 Corporate Event Themes for Unforgettable Company Parties

July 17, 2018

When choosing a party theme for company get-together s, corporate planners need to make sure that the theme is relevant and fun. But most importantly, they need to make sure it’s something that’s appropriate for the event, setting, and company culture. In the following, we’ll cover a list of some entertaining and versatile corporate event themes that are a safe fit for just about any company.

Classic Summertime BBQ

Looking for a way to entertain employees or investors during the summer? Try a classic summertime get together. A park setting by a lake is the perfect location, plus it’s completely free! Go for big white tents, picnic tables covered in plaid, and retro games such as croquet or badminton to round out the day. You can even do a company Olympics by creating cross-functional teams and having them compete in traditional games (think: dodgeball) or something a little goofier (think miniature tricycle relay).

Maybe the best part is that everyone can be comfortable in their casual summertime clothes, so it’s a little less formal (or a lot, depending on your company). That creates a laid-back atmosphere where employees are more likely to let their guard down, shoot the breeze with one another, and network across the company. It’s one of those corporate event themes that doesn’t end up feeling so corporate.

Food: Burgers, hot dogs, potato salad

Beverage: Cold beer, lemonade, mint juleps

Activities: Sports, outdoor games, picnic

Decor: White tents, checked blankets, balloons, picnic tables

Winter Wonderland

Creating an inclusive holiday bash is important, but it can also be a little tricky to theme. That’s why choosing a winter event theme like Winter Wonderland can work well for end-of-the-year gatherings. Whether you choose to imbue the atmosphere with sparkling jewel tones or simply decorate with white on white, the decoration options are limitless (but let’s face it — you should probably include a snowflake or two). Keep the dinner menu or appetisers centered around traditional winter fare and put together a featured drink list with festive cocktails like warm toddies and chilly cranberry-infused martinis.

Guests always enjoy dressing up for the season, so you probably don’t need to set a concrete dress code to get everyone to show up in their holiday best. Just get the word out that things will be a little more on the formal end. And make sure to hire a band or a DJ so you can get everyone busting a move out on the dance floor.

Food: Traditional plated options such as tenderloin, chicken, salmon, or grilled portabellas for a vegetarian option

Beverages: Toddies, cranberry-infused martinis, red wine, dark winter beers

Activities: Company holiday videos, music/dancing, recap of the year’s wins

Decor: Snowflakes, jewel tones, poinsettia plants (bonus points for a fireplace!)

Spring Has Sprung

What’s a better way to celebrate closing out Q1 than by “springing” into Q2? After all, you’re off to a fresh start and nothing says fresh like the spring season. You can find a classy outdoor space such as a manicured museum, work with a local botanic garden, find a natural space outside of town, or bring things inside with the option for a patio.

Whatever you do, decorate with bright green topiaries, lots of beautiful flowers, and plenty of pastels. The theme is versatile, so feel free to set a dress code as you see fit.

Food: Salad, hoers d’oeuvres, pasta primavera

Beverages: Wine, Moscow mules, lemonade

Activities: Picnic, bean bag toss, bocce ball, group hike

Decor: Pastels, flowers

Carnival-Inspired Corporate Event Theme

th

Want a corporate event theme that everyone will remember? Throw a carnival-themed party! Between the performers, activities, and out-of-the-box decor, you’ll create an event that really sets itself apart. Hire a magician to roam around the crowd, add fun game stations like ring toss, and add a photo station with zany props.

For catering, bring in traditional fair food like hot dogs, funnel cakes and elephant ears. Even if you want to be a little more sophisticated, you can put an upscale twist on those traditional foods. For example, use non-traditional flavours in your corn dogs and serve vindaloo ketchup with the fries.  Your guests are going to have a great time because, let’s face it, everyone loves a carnival. (Maybe just steer clear of the clowns.)

Food: Corn dogs, funnel cakes, fries, turkey legs

Beverages: Beer, cider, feature a carnival-themed drink

Activities: Ring toss, photo booth, balloon animals, guessing booth with prizes

Decor: Circus-tent inspired patterns, lots of bulb lights

Gameday

Chances are that folks in your company have origins all over the country. And that means they probably have a favourite sports team they love rooting for. Take advantage of sporting events like the FA cup and the cricket world cup etc to get everyone showing their colours and watching the games together. Just serve up some simple gameday snacks and watch the magic unfold.

You can also create camaraderie among employees by going out to a local sporting event, sports are a fun way to forget about the office and get behind a common goal. Purchase some team swag to give away and let everyone get in the spirit. And remember, beer and nachos have the power to bond people.

Food: Nachos, fries, pizza, ice cream

Beverages: Well-rounded beer list, cider for gluten-free attendees

Activities: Host a watch party, go to a local game

Decor: Team colours for the win

Whichever of these corporate event themes you choose, make sure you’re staying on budget and creating the right event planning checklist to help you execute flawlessly.
