Rachel’s WFH diary… Week 3

April 7, 2020

Another week in this dislocated time, cannot believe we are now in week 3 WFH, as the saying goes, the older you get time is the enemy.

What a beautiful stunning day, the urban birds signing, neighbours’ children on their trampolines laughing.   At least we are all drinking in some Vitamin D, which in the current situation is well needed.

When I go out for my one piece of exercise, which I will be doing later, plus to the local shop, I can wear my sunglasses on my head which is a bonus, you cannot see my roots. In need of a hair cut and colour, think I may have to invest in an Alice Band to stop the fringe going into my eyes.  The boys are fine, ordered clippers online for their needs, at least saving on the barbers.

I am currently listening to London Radio and weirdly they have a hint for hair, Rice Water. After boiling your rice use the water to rinse your hair, works wonders apparently. You can also mix a bit of the rice with the water and pulse it to make a paste which is a great conditioner. Who would have thought we are gaining one thing from Covid19, Basmati Rice is great for the hair and will save us all some money.  However, on a more serious note currently I guess hair is the least of anyone’s worries.

Back to doing tea at 3 this week, son made blueberry muffins, Elena thank you for your recipe. Everything at home appears to be revolving around food; planning, sourcing, prepping and the best bit eating in our small family commune, catching up on our day’s activities and plans. Talking of muffins if not careful, I will get a muffin top.

Muffins

Talking about food I am missing my colleagues and scrumptious breakfast, lunches, cakes, drinks receptions at the Conference Centre. Chef Mourad’s soups, chickpea curries and other culinary healthy delights, cannot wait until we are all back to some normality.

Chick Peas

Well with all this chat about food thinking what’s on the menu this evening….. have some fish, may knock up some fish cakes, with homemade fries and mushy peas … washed down with a chilled glass of chardonnay, how long do I have to wait, oh no 4 hours ……Back to conference bookings

Hope you are all keeping healthy, staying safe and not venturing too far once a day only.

With Love,

Rachel
