Meeting Venue Increase Conference Rates

Every day we are being told by venue finding agencies that meeting venue conference and meeting rates are starting to increase dramatically see HERE for an example. Today for example an agent told me they had been quoted a rate of £84.00 plus VAT for the Congress Centre in London W1, whereas in 2019 they were quoting more like £72.00plus VAT. DeVere Venues / Grand Connaught Rooms again in W1 also seem to have pushed up their rates significantly.

Losses During the Pandemic

In many ways this shouldn’t be a surprise. All London meeting venues made huge losses during the pandemic, they are trying to recoup some of those. Added to which their cost base is increasing dramatically, inflation is reported to be running at 5%, many of the largest variable costs venues shoulder are increasing even faster, i.e. wages have risen by 14% see HERE

We refuse to use this time of increased demand and restricted supply to push up rates unreasonably, for all repeat bookings which take place before the start of the new tax year (2022) we will honour 2019 rates.
