Hallam Conference Centre – Inspected and Accredited as “Safe Clean & Legal” August 2020 – COVID SAFE “was most impressed with the measures you as a team have implemented”

Industry body the HBAA recommended that all venues implement Quality in Tourism Recommendations to ensure that they are implement best practices in all aspects of Hygiene & Cleanliness including up to date Covid-19 protocols, see HERE. We are delighted that we have been inspected as recently as this month and have passed with flying colours!  See HERE for the full documentation, alternatively see below for the assessor’s feedback. These standards have been rolled out across all of our venues.

“A conference centre for the medical world, offering 6 extremely well-appointed meeting rooms and associated facilities. All appears extremely well maintained, an imposing London townhouse, an attractive “Palm” lined frontage in planters, boasting a stunning seasonal floral display. An extremely comprehensive risk assessment completed with consistent risk scoring noted across the assessment. Newly introduced Covid-19 house policies prepared, including general hygiene rules and venue “housekeeping” protocols. Overall, extremely high standards of underlying cleanliness noted throughout. The number of delegates attending meetings has been reduced to implement social distancing, so for example the largest meeting room the Council Chamber could normally hold 100 participants this has been reduced down to 30 delegates. Clear social distancing measures in place, ample hand-sanitize stations (foot operated in reception) excellent use of floor signage and a one-way walking system implemented – noted the air-conditioning has been turned off and a Perspex screen fitted at reception. All staff, prior to returning to work complete a medical questionnaire, checked by a “Covid Champion”. Anybody entering the building has their temperature recorded, anybody showing an excessively high temperature is refused entry to the building. PPE (masks and gloves) are provided for all members of the team and any delegate attending a meeting. The use of the lift is limited to one person at a time. The catering operation has been completely overhauled. Separate service stations have been created, manned by members of the service team; disposable bio-degradable cups are used for tea & coffee service with sachets of sugar and milk provided. Food is individually prepared and presented in “Bento Boxes” – one chef alone is working. We discussed hand air dryers in the toilets, we would suggest disconnecting these and providing paper towels with a foot operated bin for disposal. Visit conclusion completed with Derry and Lyuda confirming our Safe, Clean and Legal status, many thanks for the time extended to me, the kind offer of a bottle of water and I have to say I was most impressed with the measures you as a team have implemented, many thanks and stay safe.”

These standards have been gold plated and then rolled out across all of our venues. For example we are now implementing the governments QR code systems at all venues. (these are codes aimed at supporting the national track and trace system, see here)
