Eleni’s take on Virtual Events – is live streaming the norm of the future?
While we are going through unprecedented times, we all felt massive impact of this new virus named Covid-19. We can all agree, this is something we did not expect to happen, and we would never be staying in our homes for so long. This is a story we will be telling our children and grandchildren for a very long time. Due to this current situation, events are not taking place. Fear of spreading the virus and putting our health at risk is taking us over and when this is all finished, nothing will be the same. However, life is not black and white. There are still plenty things we can do while stuck indoors, we can still communicate digitally and help events industry to take a step forward and introduce new ways of running events.
While I am working from home and trying to find ways to entertain myself, I have realised that we have a strong tool to make our everyday life a little bit more interesting as being on lockdown and not being able to go out meet friends, colleagues, clients can be quite devastating. This tool is technology. Many industries have been affected by this virus and are indeed suffering and this is the time for technology to shine.
We are all using internet to find joyful ways to spend our time, to interact with our colleagues, friends, and families. Why not to use this amazing tool to attend virtual events. A virtual event is an online event that involves people interacting in a virtual environment on the web, rather than meeting in a physical location. We can watch theatre shows, we can attend conferences and meetings just by clicking on the ‘join now’ link which gets you directly onto the platform. How great is that?
Once the lockdown is lifted, to keep in line with social distancing restrictions, I think it’s safe to say majority of event organisers will be embracing web streaming of their events, while limiting the number of delegates attending conferences and events in person. The best way to have perfect balance between human contact and expanded audience is to use event venues which have web streaming capabilities and proficient audio-visual tools. I am proud to say that I am a member of one of those venues, where our Audio-Visual technicians are experts and highly trained to run this kind of events. Moreover, our high end AV equipment is inbuilt and ready to make your virtual event an ultimate success.
If you are looking for a perfect conference venue why not take a look at our virtual 3D Video Tours and choose a venue most suitable for your numbers and requirements? We have 5 event venues based in Central London with all conference venues offering both traditional and contemporary room layouts, ranging from Grade II listed buildings to contemporary and unique event spaces, with a vast variety of capacities to suit any event, meeting or training.
