This year is the 52nd anniversary of World Earth Day, a movement which came about as a result of an oil spill in Santa Barbara, California and is now a global movement. In 1990 two hundred million people in more than 141 nations participated in the event. The event has had some major successes, it is credited as being partially responsible for the creating of the Environmental Protection Agency and the passing of the Clean Air Act, the Endangered Species Act in the USA. Here at Cavendish Venues, one of Central London’s leading conference and meetings venue groups, for 25 years we have been working to reduce our environmental footprint, major initiatives include:

Carbon Neutral Conferences & Meetings:

Using a bespoke carbon calculator, we have endeavoured to sum up the annual carbon omissions created by our activities. We then offset this directly, we plant our own trees rather than using an opaque 3^rd party broker, see HERE.

Buying Local, imperative for Events and Exhibitions:

We are constantly trying to shorten our supply chain, reduce transport miles etc. Recent initiatives include English wine in all of our venues, see HERE.

Circular Economy, Conferences etc:

We are trying wherever possible to re-use and recycle. We are delighted this has been recognised by no less an authority than the City of London Authority who awarded us Gold in this category last year, see HERE.

Reducing Food Waste, one Conference at a time:

We are constantly trying to reduce our food waste; a recent innovation is so called French as compared to Russian service! see HERE.
