According to recent research 8 in 10 people are keen to return to live events
80% of people are keen to return to live events within the next twelve months, according to a recent survey.
It also found that only a third of respondents would be willing to travel internationally to attend a live event in the next 12 months.
The research was put together in the last week of July by events agency Identity, which surveyed attendees to gauge the mood and expectations around live and virtual events.
Four fifths of respondents expect live events to have a cap on the number of attendees but when it comes to handshakes, the responses were divided – with over 36% saying that to shake hands or not should be a personal choice, particularly if hand sanitiser is available. Nevertheless, prohibiting handshakes was considered as ‘necessary’ or very necessary’ by over 60 % of those questioned.
Overwhelmingly, 96% of respondents considered pre-event communication regarding health and safety measures as ‘very necessary’.
The majority of respondents identified as executive or C level job positions. There was a male bias of 58% in respondents and a quarter of respondents were in the 18 – 35 age bracket, a further 25 percent were aged 51 – 64, and almost 36% of respondents were in the 36 – 50 age group.
Charlie Hepburn, client strategy director of Identity Group said: “This points to the ultimate importance being placed on advance communication, keeping attendees well informed and ensuring they are aware of the expectations and restrictions in place before committing to attend the event. Interestingly, the idea of hosting events indoors, as opposed to outdoors, does not seem to provoke any reluctance to attend.”
SOURCE: Exhibition News,
It’s great to hear people are ready to return to live events and conferences, our sector has been one of the most affected by the pandemic, especially the sports stadiums, live performance venues, exhibition centres, conference centres and other event venues. We were the first ones to close and will be the last ones to open. The amount of businesses affected in the chain reaction – caterers, production companies, printers, linen suppliers, food & drink suppliers etc etc, not to mention the job losses across the sector! All of us in the events industry are hoping and praying things will pick up soon and we’ll be back on our feet helping to restart the economy.
To make our clients and guests more comfortable and confident to book our conference venues for their live events, we have already posted many blogs and posts about how much preparation we’ve done in order to reopen our conference centres, starting from cleaning and disinfecting schedules, sanitising stations, one way systems, social distancing measures, adapted catering options and many more! In addition to these processes taking place inside our conference centres we’ve also released our most comprehensive range of hybrid event packages. We believe that hybrid conference should only be called “hybrid” if online version matches the physical version, offering your guests quality networking facilities and other services to resemble the actual conference with all it’s benefits ie not only watching the content online with questions submitted via email or twitter. Our gold hybrid package does exactly that! You can see for yourself in our short video:
Just like all event venues, our conference centres have suffered during this pandemic, but with a bit of hope, some luck and your new bookings not only we can bounce back to previous glory, but also give something back to the environment – we will plant a tree for each and every enquiry received! As sustainable conference venues we are doing our bit to help, last year we planted over 600 trees in rural Dorset, this year we are planning to hopefully plant another 600, please help us!
If you are planing any events later this year or next year and are looking for conference venues, meeting rooms or training rooms, we have all event space you need, just get in touch and we’d be delighted to help.
