Event venues around the world are ready to reopen!
During the Covid-19 outbreak, event venues across the world are putting their efforts into reopening and welcoming clients and delegates back to their conference and exhibition spaces. It is worthy to say that due to these uncertain times no one is giving up and we are all working under each country’s government advice to move forward and help the economy and our lives to go back to normal.
In Netherlands, Amsterdam the RAI Amsterdam convention and exhibition complex is planning to reopen in September 2020. The soft reopening will happen during Summer months while closely following all guidelines regarding social distancing. The events venue wishes to organise trial events to ensure safe processes are checked and implemented in time for the venue’s reopening in the autumn.
Realistically, it will be no earlier than September for the return of any international events booked into it’s agenda. Paul Riemens, CEO of RAI says the continuance of these events is important for the convention centre itself, but will also provide an economic impulse to the region as a whole. There is a detailed roadmap in place, which will help the convention centre get back to business safely.
In Spain, Fira de Barcelona is also working towards resuming its trade fair activities after the summer, with the intention of being one of the main driving forces of economic recovery, given the wide variety of industries present at its events. This events venue is preparing to resume activity in the final quarter of the year by holding events such as VBBFW (Valmont Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week), BizBarcelona, Alimentaria, Foodtech, Barcelona Boat Show, Smart City Expo World Congress, Expoquimia, Eurosurfas and Equiplast.
The institution is defining a specific protocol to establish the utmost safety and prevention measures for its workers, exhibitors, visitors, organisers, and participants during the conferences, exhibitions and other events taking place on its premises.
Fira de Barcelona, like most international events and exhibition venues, has had to re-schedule the events calendar and concentrate the dates in the last four months of this year.
Moving to a different continent, in Orlando, United States of America, the Orange Convention Centre is getting prepared to reopen on the 14th July 2020 when it hosts the 47th Amateur Athletic Union Junior National Volleyball Championships, putting it among the first convention centres in North America to host an event after the closures, cancellations and postponements forced by the coronavirus outbreak. The event is expected to bring in 10,000 participants, chaperones, and coaches.
