Cavendish Venues wins at the Conference Awards 2017!
A perspective on the Conference Awards 2017 from Event Sales Executive, Chloe Bennett:
“Walking into the Conference Awards with our CEO Tom and Venue Manager Valeria, I was hit instantly with chattering noise, vibrant colour and a chilled glass of bubbly. So this is what it was all about. It was my very first Conference Awards in a brand-new industry of which I had been involved in for 6 months. Events!
Tobacco Docks looked wonderful, colourful bunting, circus acts and a swinging live band. The events team had done an excellent job organising the Awards. Everyone looked relaxed, excited and raring for an afternoon of cheering, whooping and laughing. It didn’t disappoint.
We sat at our tables and I thoroughly enjoyed the company, the food and of course the wine. I had a great conversation with Mark and Louisa from Wyboston Lakes, met an old employee from Arsenal and said hello to hundreds of new faces all smiling, all welcoming. The entertainment with Marcus Brigstocke and Jo Caulfield was excellent and set everyone up nicely for the Award-giving.
We had been nominated for two categories: Best Conference Venue (under 300 theatre) and Best Venue Customer Service (under 500 delegates). We faced stiff competition with the likes of IET Savoy Place, 99 City Road Conference Centre, OXO2 and Wyboston Lakes of whom I was sitting next too!
Having been told because we were at the back, ‘we probably wouldn’t win’ I jumped and punched the air with enthusiastic joy at the sound of our name being called as the Winners for the Best Conference Centre Under 300 Delegates for the Cavendish Conference Centre where Dermot Waldron is Operations Director.
My fellow back-benchers also cheered as finally a back-row had won! I raced to the stage with Tom and shook Marcus’s hand stammering my words, ‘thank you’ ‘thank you’, and felt what it was like to be a part of a successful team. It felt great! I messaged Paul our Director of Sales straight away to which he replied, ‘let it give you a taste of a career’ and it certainly has.”
