The roadmap goes into reverse!
Despite the government’s own trial events showing that conference and events don’t contribute to coronavirus transmission, see HERE, last night our industry was sacrificed. Mistakes have been made, our industry is paying the price. Across the world conference and meeting venues are allowed to open, many with far slower vaccination programmes then we have enjoyed in the UK, see HERE for France as an example. There is no clarity as to why this is not happening in the UK.
Where are we now.
The roadmap as outlined below has been delayed by 4 weeks, so step 4 will start on the 21st of July. We are stuck in Step 3, what is allowed now?
- Most significant life events allowed
- Remaining outdoor entertainment (including performances)
- Some larger events allowed, including business meetings and conferences:
- Indoor events, 1,000 pax or 50% of capacity
- Outdoor events, 4,000 pax or 50% capacity
- Seated outdoor events 10,000 or 25% capacity
- Rule of 6 indoors, groups of 30 outdoors
- Catering and hospitality permitted in groups and with table service
- Ongoing trials, particularly favouring those industries favoured by politicians i.e. it looks like the Wimbledon tennis finals will run at full capacity as a ‘trial’, Andrew Weber will be allowed to open his next musical etc etc.
What will happen on 19th of July – Step 4 (though there is a review in 2 weeks and things might change for the better or worse then)
