Five notable changes in event AV

October 22, 2019

Effective audio and video (AV) at events can be integral to creating an immersive experience which engages your audience and brings the event’s content to life. From sound and lighting to special effects and projection, AV can enhance an event in so many ways.

With the rapid evolution of technology, AV is changing and adapting all the time. Therefore, we’ve put together five notable changes in event AV that we have seen at our venue.

  1. Streaming and video conferencing (and hosting content)

With society more aware of its carbon footprint than ever before, we have seen a rise in streaming and hosting content for guests that are unable to attend the event physically. This will benefit event organisers who are looking to extend their events geographical reach and attendance numbers alongside registrations.

For example, The International London Breast meeting, offered a special ‘online’ delegate registration option at its event. Delegates could purchase the opportunity to watch all of the conference sessions via a live stream directly to their device.

Delegates were also able to revisit sessions via a video on demand function and the event was broadcast live in four different languages worldwide to online delegates in 26 countries.

  1. Voting apps (bring your own device technology)

Voting apps continue to be a popular choice for event organisers looking to encourage audience engagement in their sessions.

Clients use these apps to gather information anonymously, support polls and create statistical views regarding certain topics.

They are also a popular choice for events streaming to people in other countries that are unable to attend. While the concept has been around for a long time, these have now moved from hardware to software and are web based or app based, therefore usable on delegate’s own devices.

  1. Filming (hosting content) and design services

Video is an incredibly popular form of content and by 2020 it is expected to account for 80% of all web traffic.

We have noticed that event organisers have gone from needing filming and editing of their events to creating full promotional videos, which are used as marketing tools to attract sponsorship and sell future events.

Our video requests have become more technical with clients needing challenging camera angles, slicker editing and image quality as well as decreasing turnaround time to finalise projects.

  1. Digital Signage

Digital signage has evolved to become an essential part of the attendee experience at events and we have seen more and more event organisers looking to use it to deliver key messages around a theme or for marketing purposes.

Client’s digital signage needs to now focus around making it more attractive. From using enhancement, to different shapes and sizes, motion signage and interactive signage.

  1. Proposals and quotes

AV has become a much bigger part of the event planning process in more recent years. Event organisers used to be looking for equipment, now they need solutions and services such as advising, assisting and improving events during the client’s journey.

Here at Cavendish Venues we promote sustainability and are very proud to be among the greenest London Venues.
